Mother's Day Marketing Ideas for Gourmet Popcorn Shops

Mother's Day Promotion Ideas You Can Use

Mother’s Day spending in the US surpasses $20 billion annually – what an enormous opportunity for your small business to draw in a new crowd and be creative with your marketing efforts! Use these Mother’s Day promotion ideas to delight customers and gain new fans for your business, while having some fun yourself.

1. Sell gourmet treat basketsMother’s Day gift baskets are perfect for the shopper in a hurry, and you can create them in a variety of price ranges. A simple basket could contain two or three flavors of gourmet popcorn, while a more complex one might include popcorn, fudge, and caramel apples. If you have the staff available, offer to create custom baskets where patrons can select items to be included. If you can, partner with some other local businesses to make your baskets even more valuable. Package your treats along with local preserves, soaps, candles, and other handmade goods for a gift moms will treasure. Doing this creates the added benefit of giving your products more exposure, as they’re displayed – and tasted –  in other local shops.

2. Set up kids’ craft stations. Especially when multiple generations of moms and kids want to celebrate together, Mother’s Day projects are a big hit. If you have some extra space in your shop, set aside a table where children can create DIY cards for mom and grandma while the adults get to spend some quality time together. Provide construction paper, crayons, and markers, and when the artwork is complete, allow the kids to include their cards in a custom gift basket for mothers and/or grandmothers.

3. Host a brunch. Mother’s Day brunch is a favorite tradition, and many restaurants book up quickly. Send invitations to your best customers or rely on word-of-mouth advertising, and host a nontraditional Mother’s Day brunch in your shop. Serve delicious Belgian waffles with a variety of toppings like ice cream, fruit, and chocolate for a fun and sweet treat.

4. Create an experience to remember. Transform your shop by setting up tasting booths for fudge and candy apples, a mix and match popcorn bar, and a fun drink station. You can position an employee to greet customers at the door and hand all the mothers a red carnation. Give discounts to moms throughout the day, hold a raffle, host a trivia game about famous mothers – anything to get visitors engaged and interacting with you and your staff.

Any of these ideas can help get traffic to your store and strengthen brand awareness as people tell their friends and family about their experiences. Don’t forget to advertise your events and specials in local newspapers and radio stations, as well as on your social media channels so that you generate interest ahead of time!
