Facebook: Make Posting Content as Easy as 1-2-3

LetsTalkTrends

If you’re wondering what to post on your Facebook page, you’re not alone. No matter what your level of experience, one of the most common challenges is determining what content will connect with your audience. So, before you type out your next post, get to know the Rule of Thirds.

The Rule of Thirds is a formula for determining what your posts should consist of. Successful social media content is characterized by having an equal mix of the following types of posts:

  1. Promotional (about you) – This is where you promote your business and all you have to offer. Post about: products, specials, your own content and updates. A lot of pages gravitate toward this type of content. But it’s important to not use your page exclusively to self-promote. Remember: social media is about interacting, not just broadcasting.
  2. Informational (about your industry) – Share items created by others that are related to your industry. Post links to blogs, articles, videos, infographics, etc. It may feel counter-intuitive to share others’ content. But you want to show that you are aware of the latest news and developments. This will position you as a go-to resource.
  3. Engaging (interactive) – Create conversation with your followers through interesting questions, trivia, customer stories, contests or other fun content. Give your page a personality. It makes you approachable and real, which helps to attract customers.

How would this work in the concession world? Let’s take a look. Sandy is a food and beverage director for a stadium. One of her promotional posts could be a food item of the week. For informational, she may post a link to an article about popular stadium foods. To engage, she could run a contest on her page asking followers to post a photo of them with their favorite food at the stadium concession stand.
