Top Fun Foods at Amusement Parks

Amusement parks are a great place to set up your concession stand, as guests are hungry and in the mood to buy “fun” foods that they might not eat every day, such as popcorn and cotton candy. Read on to learn the top fun foods at amusement parks, including bestsellers and healthier options.

Bestselling concession foods

According to concessionaires, the top selling foods at amusement parks are hot foods, such as hot dogs, corn dogs, pizza, nachos, and others. These foods are generally easy to make – for nachos, fill a crock-pot with nacho cheese and have a bag of chips handy, serving in a nacho tray with cheese on top. A nacho cheese warmer/dispenser makes things even easier.

Foods such as grilled cheese or hot dogs can be made ahead of time and kept warm on a grill or food warmer.

Another bestselling concession food item for theme parks is candy. Candy can be purchased for good prices in bulk, and of course, it requires no cooking or preparation.

Healthiest amusement park foods

It is also important to keep in mind which fun amusement park foods are the healthiest, especially if you plan to provide nutritional information. Below are some of the healthiest concession foods.

Cotton candy – OK, it is empty calories, but there are not too many of them, and you don’t need to worry about fat. This sweet, fun food has 171 calories and zero grams of fat.

Pizza – While high in calories and fat (pizza contains 667 calories and 24 fat grams per serving), pizza is a filling food that provides important nutrients, including protein, calcium, vitamin C, and lycopene.

Candy apples – Candy apples are low in fat (0.5 grams) and provide 4 grams of fiber as well as all of the other nutrients in an apple. The only unhealthy aspect is the candy coating, which pushes the calorie count to 332.

Corn on the cob – This filling, healthy snack contains only 201 calories and 1 gram of fat per serving. Adding butter and salt adds fat and sodium, but overall, this is one of the healthiest concession foods.

Besides the popular concession foods, you might also want to consider stocking your stand with some health foods, such as yogurt and fruit. People will pay a premium for these foods, spending as much as $1 for a single banana, for example.
